Free Teacher Training Workshop
The Waverley Academy are delivering a free teacher training workshop at their Dublin premises on Monday the 2nd of July. The workshop is aimed at those who want to start teaching at a basic level, or for those interested in pursuing teaching careers in the Hair, Beauty or Fitness sectors.
This fascinating workshop titled “ Essential Criteria For Teaching Adults” will introduce you to the essential skills and knowledge needed to deliver quality learning and will provide you with an excellent understanding of modern day methods for delivering classes in the hair, beauty and fitness sectors. It will also provide you with an insight into the content and sylabi of industry standard teacher training programmes. Topics covered will include:
- Understanding how adults learn
- Modern-day teaching techniques
- Educational psychology in adult learning
- Designing and planning your classes
- Delivery methods and techniques
- Developing your confidence for teaching
- Technology and the future of adult learning

About The Trainer
The workshop will be delivered by Derek O Kelly, principal and director of learning at The Waverley Academy. He has been training trainers for more than 20 years in the further education sectors. Derek is a graduate of NUI Galway Adult Ed.and is currently working with mainstream educators in shaping the future of adult education.
Venue
The workshop will take place in the Waverley Academy’s Dublin Naas road venue on Monday the 2nd of July from 11am to 3pm.
Booking in advance is essential as places are limited.

Although attendance at the workshop is free there is a €50 fee required to reserve your place. This will be returned after you attend the workshop. This is to ensure that places will be only reserved for those who are serious about attending. The fee is non refundable if you don’t attend. We just have launched a new ITEC award in fashion and photographic makeup at The Waverley Academy. The award is a post graduate qualification starting in October 2012 and can be completed one day per week (Friday) or one evening per week (Tuesday).
It will be the most comprehensive course of its nature in the country and will include advanced makeup techniques in Fashion, Photographic, Catwalk, Period, Special Occasion, Media, Magazine, Cover Photo, and Bridal makeup.
The course will also include sampling and working with MAC makeup and other top makeup brands such as, Inglot, Rimmel and Loreal.
